              <text>Born Daniel Akpan Ekanem, our Inaugural Lecturer, Prof Daniel&#13;
Ekanem Ama-Abasi hails from Ikot Ifot-Ono in Ibiono Ibom Local&#13;
Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. His parents were Late Chief&#13;
Akpan Ekanem and Late Madam Obot Akpan Ekanem (Nee Obot&#13;
Obong Udo Etok.)&#13;
The last of fourteen (14) children, Prof Ama-Abasi attended P.C.N.&#13;
Primary School, Ono; Nigerian Christian Secondary School, Ukpom&#13;
Abak; Ibiono Community High School, Edem Urua, and University&#13;
of Calabar, Calabar, for his first, second and highest degrees. He also&#13;
had a short Course (Ohio Programme of Intensive English) at Ohio&#13;
University, Athens, U.S.A.&#13;
After the mandatory one-year N.Y.S.C. at Government Secondary&#13;
School, Gwarzo in Kano State, in 1985-86, our Inaugural Lecturer&#13;
had a stint in International Institute for Tropical Agriculture.(IITA),&#13;
Ibadan. He had another stint as Secondary School teacher with Akwa&#13;
Ibom State Secondary Education Board, until 1991, when he was&#13;
appointed Junior Research Fellow by the University of Calabar. He&#13;
rose through the ranks to become Professor in 2015, and serves in&#13;
that position till date. Between 1991 and now, he has also been&#13;
Visiting Scholar to University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA,&#13;
Visiting and Adjunct Scholar, Akwa Ibom State University, Obio&#13;
Akpan Campus, Visiting and Adjunct Scholar, University of Uyo,&#13;
Uyo, among others.</text>
