Text Any textual data included in the document It is well known that, the counsellor in the school sector can contribute very well in the societal quest for advancement for self-reliance and technology. This can be achieved by well-trained counsellors who are properly equipped with necessary counselling techniques/skills and experiences. In these aspects, they can proudly make such valuable contributions especially when they are adequately trained to bring about such relevant texts for learning. There are some few existing texts of counselling practicum experiences, especially on illustration of counselling techniques/skills hence this text has been written in response to the need to add to the few texts in these areas. In the writing of this text, I have extensively drawn from my experiences in the counselling of counsellees over the years. Also, the organization of this text is wholly based on my personal experiences in the interactive aspects with my students and other counsellees. The language is very simple for easy understanding, assimilation and comprehension. In this text also, the counselling process (interview) between the counsellees and the counsellors were also discussed in details. Different techniques/skills with appropriate illustrations were indicated, explained and used to facilitate reader’s acquisition and assimilation of the techniques/skills. Text Any textual data included in the document Born Daniel Akpan Ekanem, our Inaugural Lecturer, Prof Daniel Ekanem Ama-Abasi hails from Ikot Ifot-Ono in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. His parents were Late Chief Akpan Ekanem and Late Madam Obot Akpan Ekanem (Nee Obot Obong Udo Etok.) The last of fourteen (14) children, Prof Ama-Abasi attended P.C.N. Primary School, Ono; Nigerian Christian Secondary School, Ukpom Abak; Ibiono Community High School, Edem Urua, and University of Calabar, Calabar, for his first, second and highest degrees. He also had a short Course (Ohio Programme of Intensive English) at Ohio University, Athens, U.S.A. After the mandatory one-year N.Y.S.C. at Government Secondary School, Gwarzo in Kano State, in 1985-86, our Inaugural Lecturer had a stint in International Institute for Tropical Agriculture.(IITA), Ibadan. He had another stint as Secondary School teacher with Akwa Ibom State Secondary Education Board, until 1991, when he was appointed Junior Research Fellow by the University of Calabar. He rose through the ranks to become Professor in 2015, and serves in that position till date. Between 1991 and now, he has also been Visiting Scholar to University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA, Visiting and Adjunct Scholar, Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpan Campus, Visiting and Adjunct Scholar, University of Uyo, Uyo, among others.
