Title
English for Pre-Degree Students 1: A Workbook
Description
The spoken and written communication in English of many a
university student sadly reveals a less than satisfactory
understanding of the use of language, particularly for academic
purposes. The structural, lexical and phonological difficulties
faced by the student all clearly point to an insufficient grasp and
command of the most essential elements- parts of speech, phrases,
clauses and other components of the sentence- and of course the
basic aspects of the sound system. Such poor performance in the
language has, undoubtedly, a direct correlation with the general
performance in the student‘s course area. In other words, a good
command of English at both spoken and written levels plays a key
part in the overall performance of the student.
